ELC 2001 Rules

  1. The STANDARD SAFETY RULES will always apply:
    • No Running (or jogging, or moving at a speed which is considered by the marshals to be unsafe);
    • No Physical Contact (whether with another player or their equipment)*;
    • No Climbing (on walls or scenery);
    • No Lying Down on the floor.

  2. In addition, the following rules apply for the duration of the tournament:
    • No sitting (on the floor or scenery)#;
    • No kneeling (on either or both knees);
    • Players must not hold a position where their knees are bent more than 90 degrees;
    • No Offensive language at any time;
    • No Covering of targets:
      • Players may not use any part of their body, their hair, clothing, equipment or any other objects to cover their own targets or the targets of other players;
      • Players may not hold or remain in any position whereby any part of their body obstructs a sensor group. This includes bending at the waist, leaning and positioning arms or legs in front of the chest or shoulder targets. Temporary obstruction of targets is inevitable and therefore permissable so long as the obstruction lasts only a moment. Actions such as "dodging" and "dancing" are permitted so long as targets do not remain obstructed;
      • No part of a player's hands or arms may be placed directly in front of the laser. No part of a player's body may touch the orange (rubber) ring;
      • Players may not place any part of their equipment against a wall, in order to hide the equipment. The front of a player's laser must be at least four inches back from any wall or other object that would obstruct any part of the front of the laser;
      • Players with hair long enough to cover a target must secure their hair in a manner that will prevent such obstruction of targets.
      • Players may not wear loose clothing that could obstruct a sensor.

Infringements

Infringements of the rules will be dealt with on a Caution/Dismissal basis. Any player found to be breaking the rules to the extent that a marshal feels the need to speak directly to the transgressor will be required to hand over his/her game credit. Each player will only have one of these per game, and if the player has no game credit to hand over they will be removed from the game.

Marshals will still retain the right to remove any player from the game immediately if that player's conduct is unsafe, e.g. putting themselves, other players or equipment at risk of physical damage.

The Fair Play award will be given to the team with the lowest number of cautions (handing over of game credits) at the end of the tournament. In the event of a tie, the marshals will decide.
