The European Laser Quest Championships 2001 are being held jointly by Guildford and Woking, on the weekend of 27th and 28th January next year. As I'm sure you can appreciate, the exact format of the tournament depends entirely on the number of teams entering, and is currently subject to change, but it is expected to run as follows. Format The Saturday will be reserved for the group stages of the event, where the competing teams will be divided into four groups with two playing at Woking and two playing at Guildford. After the group phase, teams will be divided into the Cup competition, which will consist of the top teams, and the Plate competition, which will be the bottom teams from the group stages. Teams will be split evenly (as far as possible depending on the number of teams entered) between the Cup and Plate. These are the final stages of the event. The Cup and Plate competitions will then take place the following morning, at Guildford and Woking respectively. Once the final stages are complete, and we have winners of both the Cup and Plate, trophy presentations will be made at the Woking venue. The intention is for the teams to arrive at their respective venues at 4:00pm sharp on the Saturday. On Sunday, teams will need to arrive at the relevant venue for a 9:00 start. The presentation should be completed by 3:00pm on Sunday. Accommodation Cost We will also require a £10 (10 UK pounds) deposit per person, or £90 per team, before the tournament commences to guarantee entry.
Prizes A cash prize will also be up for grabs by the Cup winning team. Submitting a team European Laser Quest Championships, These cheques should be made payable to "European Laser Quest Championships". Please ensure we know which team you are paying for by writing your site and team names on the reverse of the cheque - but don't send them yet as we haven't confirmed the final entry cost. To re-iterate, Trophies will be awarded to the winners and runners up in both categories. There will also be a fair play trophy to be decided by the marshals and the team captains before the final games take place. It will not look like the one Guildford B brought back from Rotterdam, oh no, we have taste... :-) |
